Penny Watson
Penny Watson has been a freelance writer and professional traveller for over a decade. Her writing and the global publications she features in reflect a peripatetic lifestyle highlighted with long-term stints in Spain, the UK, Hong Kong and her hometown of Melbourne. Pennyβs stories and features regularly appear in Australiaβs Fairfax/Nine Traveller pages, Hong Kongβs South China Morning Post Sunday Post magazine, and Singaporeβs luxury DestinAsian magazine. Her work has also featured in titles including BBC Travel, Hong Kong Tatler, Design Anthology and a myriad inflight magazines: Cathay Pacific (HK), Silverkris (Singapore), Mabuhay (Philippines) and Jetstar (Asia and Australia).
Feature writing is Pennyβs main gig but she has also found the time to author five travel titles: Hong Kong Precincts (2015), London Pocket Precincts (2019), Hong Kong Pocket Precincts (2020) and Slow Travel (2019). Her latest book, Ultimate Campsites Australia (2020) is a tribute to sleeping out in the wild and natural wonderlands of her home-country. Publicity and spin-off articles from these books have featured in global publications such as CNN Travel (USA), Stuff.co.nz (NZ) and Evening Post (UK) and Australian titles including International Traveller, InDaily, Qantas magazine, Luxury Travel and Get Lost.
